Cholesterol & Lipid Support Routines

A routine and daily habit resource to support healthy lipid metabolism, clear triglycerides, and protect cardiovascular function.

5-Step Wind-Down (Before Bed)

  • Take a light 10 to 15-minute post-dinner walk: Gentle movement after your evening meal prompts leg muscles to take up circulating glucose and clear post-meal triglycerides before you sleep.

  • Stop eating at least 2 to 3 hours before bed: Shutting down late-night eating allows your liver to shift away from triglyceride and VLDL synthesis overnight and promotes metabolic recovery.

  • Sip warm, unsweetened botanical tea: Brew hibiscus, chamomile, or ginger tea. These provide vascular-supporting antioxidants without refined sugars that spike overnight triglycerides.

  • Spend 3 minutes on gentle soft-tissue rolling or floor stretching: Use a handheld roller lightly over your calves, thighs, and glutes to ease tension, improve peripheral blood flow, and calm the autonomic nervous system.

  • Write lingering thoughts and tasks on paper: Chronically elevated evening cortisol stimulates hepatic lipolysis and increases circulating free fatty acids. Putting worries on paper lowers nervous system activation.

2-Minute Calm-Down Menu (When Stressed)

  • Two quick nose breaths, one long sigh out: Take two quick sniffs in through your nose, then let out a long, slow sigh through your mouth. This quickly slows your heart rate and cools down sudden stress.

  • Shoulder and neck release: Take a deep breath in, shrug your shoulders all the way up to your ears, and drop them down fully as you breathe out. This instantly lets go of tight tension in your upper body.

  • Cool water rinse: Run cool water over your wrists or gently splash your face. The cool sensation tells your nervous system that you are safe and helps your body switch into calm, repair mode.

  • Widen your view: Relax your eyes and look gently out toward the edges of the room for 30 seconds. Taking in your whole surroundings tells your brain to turn off fight-or-flight mode.

6-Step Morning Routine

Step

Lipid Support Focus

1

Drink 16 to 20 ounces of filtered water upon waking to support blood viscosity and cellular hydration after overnight fasting.

2

Prepare an unsweetened green tea, hibiscus tea, or warm lemon water to deliver polyphenol support for vascular health.

3

Eat a high-soluble-fiber, plant-forward breakfast (such as oats with chia seeds, ground flax, and berries) to bind bile acids and support healthy LDL clearance.

4

Complete 10 to 15 minutes of brisk walking or a quick bodyweight primer to stimulate muscle glucose uptake and kick-start insulin sensitivity for the day.

5

Step outside for 5 to 10 minutes of natural morning sunlight to set your circadian clock, which regulates nighttime melatonin and diurnal lipid synthesis.

6

Take your targeted morning supplements or clinician-prescribed lipid medications consistently with a full glass of water.

6-Step Night Routine

Step

Lipid Support Focus

1

Finish your evening meal early, keeping it rich in vegetables and soluble fiber while strictly skipping sugary desserts and alcohol that elevate overnight triglycerides.

2

Put away screens or turn on blue-light filters 60 minutes before sleep to prevent melatonin suppression and protect insulin sensitivity.

3

Take a warm shower or bath to encourage peripheral vasodilation and lower your core body temperature for restorative sleep.

4

Practice the 5-step wind-down protocol above to transition your heart and blood vessels into a restorative state.

5

Engage in analog pen-and-paper journaling, reading, or quiet breathwork to lower nighttime cortisol production.

6

Keep your bedroom cool (65°F to 68°F), dark, and quiet to support deep slow-wave sleep, which helps regulate overnight hepatic glucose and lipid output.
