Erectile Dysfunction

A Disorder of a Blocked Heart

Erectile dysfunction is a vascular warning sign.

Nearly 40% of men will experience some form of ED by the time they hit 40 years old.

A lot of people have been struggling with this for a long time.

Even though it affects millions of people, society typically will brush it off as just like performance anxiety, or just getting older, or something you fix with a blue pill.

But when things aren't working, your body is trying to tell you something.

When you have it is literally your body's alarm system to let you know that you might have an issue like narrower arteries, undiagnosed diabetes, and restricted blood flow.

The blood vessels involved in an erection are so much smaller than the ones in our heart, so they are typically the ones that get blocked 1st. That's why, in some cases, having erectile dysfunction can actually predict heart trouble three to five years before a heart attack happens.

And for Black and Brown men (who carry the weight of providing and face higher rates of "silent killers" like high blood pressure), this is often the very first sign that the engine needs attention.

ED isn't just a "manhood problem."

It’s a whole-body vascular issue that needs root-cause healing, not just a temporary lift.

Erectile Dysfunction (ED) is when it is hard to get or keep an erection firm enough for sex.

Think of your erection like a check engine light in a car.

If it flickers, it is trying to tell you something about what is going on under the hood.

It often means blood flow is slowed down or stress is too high.

The good news is, we can treat this with lifestyle and supplements in most men. You are not broken, when just need to learn how to tune things up.

Spirit Listening

Most men treat ED like a mechanic treats a broken car: pop the hood, bang on the engine, pour in some fuel additive (pills), and force it to run.

But you are not a machine.

You are a spirit housed in a body.

When the body stops responding, it is often because the spirit is shouting, and the only way it can get your attention is by shutting down the controls.

You cannot hear the answer while you are panicking about the problem. You have to get quiet.

1. Stop Forcing, Start Asking

Instead of asking, "Why is this happening TO me?" (which leads to shame),

shift the question to, "What is this trying to tell me?" (which leads to insight).

  • The Setup: Find a quiet space. No phone. No distractions. Just five minutes.

  • The Posture: Open hands. This signals to your body that you are not in a fight.

2. The Three Questions

In that silence, ask the Almighty (and yourself) these three specific questions:

  • "Am I Safe?"

    • The Insight: Your body will not prioritize reproduction if it feels like it is in survival mode. Are you carrying a financial burden, a family secret, or a work stress that has your nervous system stuck in "danger" mode?

  • "Is This Protection?"

    • The Insight: As we mentioned before, is your spirit checking your flesh? Are you trying to connect with someone you shouldn't be with? Or are you trying to perform when there is unresolved conflict or lack of trust in your relationship? Sometimes, "No" is a holy answer.

  • "Where Have I Abandoned Myself?"

    • The Insight: Have you been grinding so hard for everyone else—your job, your kids, your church—that you have completely neglected your own restoration? Your body might be forcing you to rest the only way it knows how.

3. The Answer is in the Pause

You might not get a burning bush moment.

You might just get a feeling, a memory of a conversation you need to have, or a sense of peace about slowing down.

Trust that.

I know this feels passive.

As men, you are taught to 'fix it.'

But you cannot fix a spiritual disconnect with a physical pill.

If you are running on empty, God loves you too much to let you keep driving at 100mph.

Sometimes, He pulls the emergency brake.

Don’t be mad at the brake.

Be thankful you didn't crash.

Listen to the silence. The healing starts there.

Rhythms that Heal

Before we look at labs or prescriptions, the first thing I ask is: “Where is the disconnection point between this man’s mind, spirit, and body?”

It is easy to prescribe Cialis or Viagra. But we have to be honest:

That is not the FIX.

Those pills might help with the surface-level concern of "getting it in", but they will not keep you there.

If the mind and spirit are offline, the body is just going through the motions.

Eventually, you become reliant on the "chews" just to function, while the root cause continues to rot.

1. The Mental Block (Rewiring the Process)

Blood flow is the mechanism, but the ignition is mental. If your head is not in the right space, your body will struggle to perform.

  • Stop the Shame Spiral: The worst thing you can do is beat yourself up over performance. That creates a stress loop that releases adrenaline, which physically kills an erection.

  • The Refrain: Instead of seeing ED as a failure of manhood, view it as a Wake-Up Call. Your body is signaling you to dive deeper, not just physically, but emotionally.

2. The Spiritual Safeguard

This is the hard truth that medicine rarely talks about: Sometimes, your body is blocking you to protect you.

  • If you are not connected with your partner, if there is hidden resentment, lack of trust, or guilt; your mind will put up a block that your body obeys.

  • Even deeper: Your body may be reacting to a spiritual check engine light. It might be protecting you from an interaction that aligns with your flesh but destroys your spirit.

3. Vertical Before Horizontal

To perform well in an intimate moment, you have to be connected to something bigger than yourself.

  • Intimacy flows downstream. If your intimate relationship with God (Vertical) is lacking, chances are your relationship with your own body and your partner (Horizontal) will lack too.

  • The Fix: Use this season to focus on Oneness. Lean into prayer, honesty, and trust with the Almighty Power. When you surrender the need to "perform" and focus on the need to "connect," the pressure lifts.

I know for many people, sexual chemistry is the priority.

But you cannot have sustained sexual chemistry without spiritual chemistry.

If you are trying to force your body to do something your spirit isn't at peace with, you are fighting a losing battle.

Let's stop relying on the pill to override the signal.

Let's fix the signal.

Get honest with God, get honest with your partner, and watch how your body responds when it feels safe again.

Did You Know?

The Brain is the Biggest Sex Organ

The signal for an erection starts in the brain, not the body. It relies on visual, touch, smell and memory. If the brain is distracted, bored, or shamed, the signal never gets sent down the spinal cord. You have to turn on the "main breaker" before the lights will work.

Smoking is a "Instant Shrink"

Nicotine constricts blood vessels almost immediately upon inhalation. One study showed that acute smoking can reduce penile blood flow for hours.

"Use It or Lose It" is Actually True

Regular erections (whether with a partner or alone) keep the penile tissue healthy. The rush of blood stretches the tissue and keeps it elastic. Long periods without erections can lead to the tissue becoming shorter or less flexible over time.

Watermelon is "Nature’s Viagra"

Watermelon contains citrulline, an amino acid that your body converts to Arginine, which boosts Nitric Oxide. It literally relaxes blood vessels the same way ED drugs do...just without the prescription.

The "Night Shift" is Real

Healthy men have 3 to 5 erections every single night while they sleep, usually during REM cycles. It has nothing to do with dreams; it’s your body’s way of "servicing the engine." It floods the tissue with oxygen-rich blood to prevent fibrosis (scarring).

Your Testicles Need Air Conditioning

There is a reason they hang outside the body; they need to be about 2-4 degrees cooler than your core temperature to produce optimal Testosterone and sperm. Tight briefs or hot tubs that overheat the boys can temporarily lower production.

The "Canary in the Coal Mine"

The arteries in the penis are about 1-2mm wide. The arteries in the heart are 3-4mm wide. Because the penile arteries are smaller, they clog up first.

Fear is the Ultimate "Buzzkill"

Biologically, you cannot be terrified and aroused at the same time. When you are stressed or scared, your body dumps Adrenaline. Adrenaline is a powerful vasoconstrictor—it pulls blood away from the penis and sends it to your legs so you can run.

You Can Be a "Grower" and Still be a King

There is almost no correlation between the size of a flaccid penis and an erect one. Some men expand by 40%, others by 400%. The "Grower vs. Shower" debate is real biological science involving the amount of elastic fibers in your tissue.

ED is a Check Engine light, not a permanent failure.

It is the first sign that your vessels, your hormones, or your stress levels are out of rhythm. Popping a pill might hide the signal, but it doesn't fix the engine. We are creating a program to help you reverse the root causes, so you don't have to rely on the "chews" forever.
