Yeast Infection
The Signal of Overgrowth

Recurrent yeast infections are a metabolic warning sign.
Three out of four women will experience a yeast infection in their lifetime.
But for nearly half of those women, it won’t be a one-time event; it will return.
Even though it's the second most common vaginal infection (after BV), people brush it off as just a "hygiene thing" or something you fix with a cream from the store.
But when you keep getting yeast infections, your body is trying to tell you something.
It's flagging issues like high blood sugar, stress that won't quit, and gut problems. If you ignore it, it can lead to ongoing pain, skin that cracks, trouble with sex, and real emotional strain.
And for Black and Brown women (who often carry heavy stress and deal with health issues that go undiagnosed), these infections are usually the first sign that something deeper is off balance.
Yeast infections aren't just "a woman's problem."
It’s a whole-body microbiome issue that needs root-cause healing, not just another prescription cream.
Candida albicans (yeast) is a fungus that naturally lives in your body, including your mouth, gut, and vagina. In a healthy state, it lives in harmony with good bacteria (Lactobacillus) that keep it in check.

A "yeast infection" happens when that delicate balance is broken. The good bacteria get outnumbered, allowing the yeast to overgrow and take over.
Spirit Listening

We don't just ask "What pill do I take?" We ask, "What is my body saying?"
Yeast (Candida) is an opportunist. It overgrows when the environment allows it - when the "good guards" are down, the terrain is damp, and the sugar is high.
When we look at this through a spiritual lens, the symptoms often mirror our internal state.
1. Where are your boundaries being breached?
Physically, yeast overgrowth happens when your protective barriers (mucosa, good bacteria) are compromised.
Spiritually, this often mirrors leaky boundaries.
Who or what are you allowing to drain you?
Are you saying "yes" to everyone else while your spirit is screaming "no"?
The burning sensation can be a physical manifestation of burning out - giving until you are raw and unprotected.
2. What "false sweetness" are you relying on?
Yeast demands sugar to survive.
It hijacks your cravings, making you want the very thing that feeds the infection.
Spiritually, ask yourself: Are you seeking comfort in things that don't actually nourish you?
Are you numbing stress with food, distraction, or external validation (false sweetness) instead of bringing that hunger to Yah for true rest?
3. What is irritating your spirit?
That deep, unscratchable itch is maddening.
It often points to a deep-seated irritation in your life - a situation, a relationship, or a job that is rubbing you the wrong way, but you've been suppressing the frustration to "keep the peace."
Your body is bringing that internal irritation to the surface.
The Prayer Focus: Yah (God), show me the root. Reveal where I have allowed stress, bitterness, or 'false sweetness' to overgrow in my garden. Give me the courage to restore my boundaries, quiet the noise, and tend to the soil of my temple. I trust You to help me clear the weeds.
Rhythms that Heal
One of the most overlooked parts of freeing yourself from yeast infections is actually understanding where it comes from.
I know the modern medical system has gaslighted us into believing that most of the conditions we have just come out of nowhere at random, but this is not the case - especially for Candida overgrowth.
I see yeast infections as the body's way of alarming us and calling out for deeper support and attention to our vaginal health.
Your Rhythm is Your Health
Every single thing we do every single day is considered our rhythm.
These rhythms are our choices and our exposures, and they shape the health of our vaginal ecosystem.
When something is occurring in our environment or from our own habits that causes imbalance or just doesn't work with our body, our body wisely gives us a signal in the form of a yeast overgrowth.
It's our body's way of saying, "Hey, something needs to change."
I encourage members to stop viewing yeast infections as an irritating condition that needs to be quieted with medication or cream.
We have to grow wise and learn how to listen and then respond to it with wisdom.
The Physical Conversation: Start Here
Pull yourself to the side and ask yourself:
Am I nourishing my body with whole, unprocessed foods, or feeding yeast with sugar and processed ingredients?
Is my gut health weak? (This will also weaken my lymphatic system and immune defenses).
Am I overwhelmed with stress and worry? (This lowers resilience and immunity).
Are there products, fabrics, or habits that I'm exposing myself to every day that are disturbing my natural balance?
The Spiritual Conversation: Reflect Honestly
But even deeper than the physical, we have to go past biology sometimes because a lot of our symptoms are spiritual.
Especially if you are having persistent yeast infections and it doesn't matter how many medications or how many creams you are using - if they still come back, this may mirror a deeper imbalance in your actual soul.
I don't need to be super woo-woo, but we have to remember that we are a conglomerate of mind, body, and spirit, and they are very interconnected, no matter what you believe.
If this could be the case for you, start by reflecting on yourself:
Are there boundaries that I have ignored or allowed to be crossed, whether in relationships or with myself?
Am I unequally yoked with the partner(s) I am engaging with, and our microbiomes are clashing?
Am I carrying unresolved emotional buildup, or do I have childhood trauma that I have left unaddressed for so long?
Am I carrying influences that don't belong in my mind, body, and spirit?
Just like the body speaks through physical symptoms, the spirit often will speak through disturbing your life.
That is a call for us to go back to alignment.
The BreakthroughWhen we choose to see yeast not as a nuisance but as an actual messenger, this allows us to open the door for deep healing to happen. It is not just physical - it's emotional and spiritual. I believe we are more spiritual than we are mental and physical. Literally, if you believe in an afterlife and going to heaven, that is what's going to carry us in the long term. This body is our temporary entity. ![]()
When you think of it from that perspective, you're going to want to do things that promote your spiritual growth more so than what we have here on this Earth. It brings you back to perspective: This is a pathway, this is a journey. We're not just here to quiet things; we're here to build rhythms and have breakthroughs. |

Did You Know?

Yeast loves "The Grind"
Chronic stress shifts your vaginal pH. This kills off the good bacteria (Lactobacillus) and rolls out the red carpet for overgrowth.
The Sugar Signal
That intense craving? It might be the yeast talking. Candida can manipulate your gut-brain axis to demand sugar for its own survival.
The "Cortisol Steal"
Your body uses the same ingredients to make Stress Hormones and Sex Hormones. High stress "steals" from your progesterone, leading to imbalances that feed yeast.
Oxygen is an antifungal
Yeast hates oxygen (it is anaerobic). Deep belly breathing floods your blood with oxygen, making your body a hostile environment for the infection.
Tears flush stress
Crying releases excess cortisol. Tears of frustration actually have a different chemical makeup than tears from onions...they are a literal detox.
Screens keep you "On"
Blue light at night keeps your brain in "Beta" waves (alert mode), blocking the deep "Theta" waves needed for immune repair.
Digestion stops at stress
"Survival mode" lowers stomach acid. This allows yeast on food to survive digestion and colonize your gut, creating a reservoir for reinfection.
Humming heals
Humming vibrates the vocal cords and stimulates the Vagus Nerve, instantly switching your body from "Fight or Flight" to "Rest and Repair."
Yeast is a "Shapeshifter"
Under stress, Candida changes shape from a round cell to a branching fungus (hyphae) that digs into tissue. Stress pulls the trigger on this transformation.
Melatonin fights fungus
The hormone that makes you sleepy isn't just for rest; it actively inhibits Candida growth. Poor sleep lowers your natural antifungal defense.
